Colon Cancer

What is colon cancer?
Colon cancer is a cancer that affects the large intestine. The large intestine is a part of the digestive tract. The digestive tract takes up the food and converts it into energy. Colorectal cancer starts with cells and without treatment the cell grows and becomes uncontrollable. The cells will then become a tumor but it takes time for it to become a tumor.

Colon cancer causes
Colon cancer forms when cells called polyps enter the colon although these cells are not cancerous if these cells are left without treatment they could form into cancer cells. There are many reasons on why this disease is developed like that. Genetics play a significant role in getting this disease. If your family has this disease then you should definitely check up with your doctor.

Symptoms of colon cancer
Colorectal cancer symptoms spread through out your body making it easier to detect it and be aware of it. Some changes in your bowel occur such as diarrhea or constipation. If your blood has an irregular color such as bright red or a darkish color it is a sign that you might have colon cancer. If you feel discomfort in your abdominal, if you feel cramps or excessive bloating then it is also an indicator of the cancer. If you have lost weight quickly and have a fatigue than the cancer has developed and you should prevent it immediately before it gets worse.

The treatment of colon cancer
is based on if the cancer has progressed deeply or if it is still in the early stages. In the early stages of colon cancer surgery is usually performed to prevent the tumor from spreading throughout the body. You can also do chemotherapy and radiation therapy to reduce the size of the tumor. Doctors work collectively in order to find new ways of curing patients. Systemic therapy is most recommended and the most affective method of therapy in the late stages of colon cancer as it’s goal is to treat the cancer cells that are in your body.
